Rama’s traverso (baroque flute) made by Simon Polak after the 18th-century originals by Willem Beukers (Sr. and Jr.)
Memoria / Gloria
Dante Alighieri frames the program, which begins with the first stanzas of “Paradiso,” set within a New Complexity piece — Descent from Parnassus — by New York-based composer Marcos Balter.
A traverso program of C.P.E. Bach and Telemann follows, punctuated by Rama’s own solo fantasy on the first chapter of the Book of Daniel.
Finally, he orates the same Dante verses, this time with translation, and invites a discussion to follow the program.
